Eileen Clifford Studio
Eileen Clifford Studio
My ceramic work is inspired by printmaking. I create semi-functional pieces—objects that can be used, but are meant to be experienced through their surfaces. Texture and colour play a big role in my work. I build up layers that reflect the process of printmaking—pressing, transferring, and repeating marks. Just like in my prints, I use slips, stains, and glazes on the clay to add colour in layers, creating depth and transparency.
By using printmaking techniques on clay, I blend the two forms, letting patterns and textures move between mediums. These pieces are meant to be touched, used, or simply admired. Each one carries the memory of its making, with surface and colour telling a quiet story of the process and materials.
