I work with oil paint on paper, canvas or board, exploring minimalism and abstraction. With my current painting practice I'm experimenting with texture and the method of paint application (or removed) with a squeegee or rag, rarely a brush. I work quickly and spontaneously with thin applications that allow the texture of the canvas to show through.
I'm interested in experimenting with controlling the application of paint on the one hand and balancing this with allowing the paint, and painting, its own life to end up where it wants to be. Originally from San Francisco, California I relocated to London in 2008. I've had a career as a Landscape Architect, but since retiring I’m focused on developing my painting practice and I primarily make art to amuse myself.
